Join us on a powerful journey of healing and hope. The Summit of Hope Gala supports Come and Hike It in providing grief support through guided hiking experiences, community, and resources. STAY TUNED FOR 2026 EVENT DATE AND INFORMATION.
Just over a year ago, during my own journey of healing, the idea for Come and Hike It was born. I gathered an incredible board of people who had each experienced losses of their own, united by big hearts and a passion for helping others. In our very first year, we accomplished the unimaginable. We became a nonprofit corporation, and thanks to our initial kick starter donors, we raised enough to host four inspiring programs that guided dozens of people toward peace on their grief-healing journey through hiking.
Those first programs, though still in their infancy, produced results beyond our expectations and gave us the confidence to officially file for 501(c)(3) status. With no questions asked, we were approved in July of 2025.
But on the evening of September 28th, as the sun set on a warm early-fall day, the unimaginable became something even greater: complete and humbling disbelief.
After two chaotic hours of setting up for our inaugural gala, what had been a seemingly cold, empty room transformed into one of the most magical scenes I have ever witnessed. The beautifully curated centerpieces inspired by nature, national parks, and hiking; the inspiring imagery and quotes from past participants; and the glowing trail of memorial lanterns honoring loved ones who are no longer with us all came together to turn the chaos into something extraordinary.
The truth is, we could not have done this alone. We have so many to thank: our generous sponsors; the donors of auction items, food, and beverages; our talented florist; the photographers and videographers who captured the spirit of the night; our music and media crew; our charming auctioneer; the incredible volunteers who helped with setup, served food, tended the bar, and kept the room spotless; our gala committee who poured their hearts into every detail; and our board members who took a leap of faith to walk alongside me in leading this mission.
And then the real magic began as our guests arrived. Texas-chic came alive with boots, hats, and bright smiles that felt like old friends reuniting. Hugs easily outnumbered handshakes, laughter rippled across the room, and the air was filled with a sense of pure, uplifting energy. In that moment, the evening became more than an event. It became a gathering of purpose, heart, and hope.
Each person in that room gave their time and their hearts. I saw you. We saw you. Together, through sponsorships, ticket sales, memorial lanterns, AND your incredibly generous auction bids, we raised over $70,000 and counting.
It is unbelievable. We set a goal for half that amount, but because of your generosity, we not only reached the summit, we exceeded it. You have given hope to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one and shown them they are not alone.
From the bottom of my heart, and in honor of all those no longer with us, thank you.
